New Zealand Writer John Irvine Signed Up for Publishing of his collections and stories

We have some wonderful news to share. One of our Guinness World Record writers, for a short story in CEA Greatest Anthology Written, has signed up to have his work published by Celenic Earth Publications. John Irvine hales from New Zealand, and we are so pleased to have him as part of our team.

John actually signed up with us a few weeks ago, but we have slowly been getting things in place before we made any form of announcement. John’s work was with a previous publisher before, but has decided to change to working with us instead. By doing so, we have permission to not only publish his future work, but to republish all his previous work too.

For the moment, the entire collection to be published are as follows:

Pre-published:

  • Anomolous Appetites
  • Blood Curry
  • Man of Stone
  • Rat atouille
  • Bucanneers, Sonneteers and Spittoons
  • Fast Friends Forever
  • You and me and cancer makes three
  • Two Voices

Ready for publication:

  • Roo Tales
  • Stoned
  • Haunted Horror
  • Frog Spawn
  • Disquiet

In the Wings:

  • Fur, Feathers and Feelers
  • Exotic Places
  • Musings on Death and Life
  • Ships in the Night
  • Handwoven

We are very excited to begin this new journey with John and releasing these books as soon as possible. Currently we are finishing up Man of Stone for his approval and are anticipating releasing it within this month. Look out for our pre-order announcement!

And here is a quick word from John on Man of Stone:

Man of Stone

Genesis…

Although I fiddled with rhyming poetry over the years it was only when I returned to NZ in 1996 from a 29 year holiday in Australia that I began to write in earnest. This came about in the traditional manner… love poetry for a girlfriend. Terrible stuff really.

However, it morphed fairly quickly into observational stuff and I began to get a “feeling” for what I was doing. I met a woman on the Internet in a writer’s group who was living in Greece and after a quick trip there to meet up she decided to move to NZ. This English ex-pat was the trigger for me… this novelist/writer and embryonic poet inspired me to take stock of what I was doing and I blossomed at
age 60.

A few years flashed by and I was submitting globally to online magazines and ezines and on fire. In 2005 I decided to approach a publisher in NZ with a view to publishing a collection and my Muse must have had a few drinks because the first publisher I offered my work to loved it and contracts were signed. A friend’s daughter, an art student, did some illustrations for it and soon I was a published poet.

Man of Stone was a minor success, but alas the publisher closed shop and that was the end. I wasn’t experienced enough to attack the world with the book, so it has been languishing for years now. Lucky me again… South African Publisher, Celenic Earth Publications , so we are off and running!

Thank you, Shaun Jooste!

It is a pleasure John! This is what we do. Assist writers in getting their word published and read around the world!

And finally, here is an interview done with John which we were given permission to share on our Youtube channel, with some words about John beneath it.

John Irvine was born on October 14th 1940, in working class suburb in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. Life as an only child was often lonely, more especially for a “fat kid” with no father, in spite of close family ties and an encouraging mother. His mum says he began writing poetry as a child. None survive, probably just as well!!

It was a conventional childhood and adolescence, with all the usual desperate issues associated with a post-war, testosterone-loaded young man. Girls, drinking, cars…nothing changes except the size of the cars. Working at 15 years old with no academic qualifications meant limited career options, and eventually, after an early unsuccessful marriage, the lure of Australia drew him to that marvellous country. There, on a working holiday that lasted 281⁄2 years, he drifted like a leaf on a fickle breeze. He
saw a lot of the Outback from the seat of a motorcycle or from behind the wheel of an old 4WD Nissan Patrol, accompanied for twelve of those years by his beloved dog/companion, Mr Mo.

He worked at employment as he found it—selling cars, cooking, crewing on cruising yachts, managing businesses, farming and even a brief stint in Papua New Guinea operating a jungle resort. After a return to New Zealand at the end of 1996, and the cold realisation that at 56 years of age he was unemployable, he began to write. First there was love poetry, then, as time dribbled by, he began to take a retrospective look
at his own life. Since meeting up with an English-born woman from Greece on the Internet 15 years ago, he has been writing short (flash) stories as well, mainly horror.

They now share an idyllic life-style on New Zealand’s picturesque Coromandel Peninsula, living in a small rural community surrounded by hills and the ocean.

He hopes to die peacefully one day without warning and minimal leakage.

Welcome to the CEP family, John!

Fantasy Game Novel Heroes of Antreya: The Journey Begins Finally Available!!

And Heroes of Antreya: The Journey Begins has finally been launched!!

Despite our best intentions to have both the Paperback and Digital versions available on 15 December 2017, we had to wait for several approvals by our distributors, which only took place over this weekend.

The wait is over however. And as a special reward for your patience, we are having a launch week special, where the Paperback and Ebook copies will be on sale at $13 and $8 respectively, compared to what their normal prices will be at $17 and $10 from next week onwards.

A percentage of the sales will be going towards further development of the upcoming MMORPG, Antreya Chronicles, in which this novel’s plot will be central to the game. You can read more and select your purchase options on our special Heroes of Antreya: The Journey Begins page.

The authors have also written special articles on their experience writing the three main characters for the novel. You can visit Dean Clark’s blog to read about the creation of the Reyt (elf) Krestyl and the Siopus (human) Darius. Visit Shaun M Jooste’s blog to read more about the creation of the Minoseus (dwarf) Sernagum.

Major Site Revamp, Anthology Submissions, and Other Changes coming soon

Earlier in June this year, when we were still young and innocent, we set out an anthology schedule that we were determined to stick to. If we had followed that, we would have had seven anthologies published by now, which would have included the anthologies for crime, hardboiled noir, Writers without Boundaries #2, Erotica, LGBT, CEA Through the Dark #2 and a special Halloween anthology.

And then the Guinness World Record attempt was approved in July and all that changed. Our primary focus changed to finding 100 writers, accepting all the stories and getting everything ready to publish.

Further to that, we shifted from a publishing label to a registered publishing company , the difference of which is all finely spelt out in our country’s Company Registration Act and which we will not get into here. But what that meant for us was that we could branch out to other divisions, and not just focus on books, although very soon you will see that all our divisions are still primarily focussed on our books, whether they be adaptations or soundtracks to accompany our books or movies.

Celenic Game Studios was the first branch in CEP to effectively start up, even though we have yet to give it a presence on the internet. The media and press section of CGS was the first to be established, and AIR Entertainment was born, with actor, writer, guitarist and singer (to name a few talents) Andi Hodgetts owning and running this section with actor, writer, guitarist and singer (to name a few talents) Shaun M Jooste.

Celenic Game Studios has also partnered with Salty Goal Productions to start developing games in the future, while we also were approved to develop games for various platforms such as Steam, Unity, Android, PlayStation, Nintendo and Xbox. These of course are all in preparation for things to come, as our sole focus was still the Guinness World Record.

AIR Entertainment in itself has been established successfully, growing quicker than any of us could have expected. The team and site are approved media contacts for many game developers and publishers, some of which only accept elite news sites. Developers brandish the team with game review codes for various platforms quite readily now, and AIR has been approved for its own Reddit community and a featured presence on Feedly.

And all this during a trying time when the main focus was a world record. Which means that, now that the anthology is published, we can shift more focus to our other divisions and put some things into place. And the first of these is a major website revamp. This site will play host to all the divisions, which means we have to change how posts are presented completely. We want to register this site with its own domain soon, hopefully by the end of November, which is why we want all the divisions available in one site.

You will not recognise this site when it is all done.

And when this site is done, you will see the strong community we are building, where book writers can get involved with games, or game writers can get involved with film, or novels get turned into films or games, etc. 2018 really looks promising right now.

ANTHOLOGIES: THE FUTURE OF

We mentioned earlier that we had presented a schedule of anthologies to be published. We are changing our strategy slightly. Instead of booking anthologies for months to come, hoping to meet our own deadlines, we are simply going to have an open call for all 2018 anthologies soon. It will be open until such time that we have obtained sufficient writers per anthology (aiming for at least 10 per volume), upon which time we will set deadlines and then decide on publishing dates. We would still like to ensure at least 1 anthology a month to be published, but we will rather wait until we have our writers tied in and stories submitted before we agree to anything.

Having said that, even though calls will be open for writers to select which anthologies they would like to write for, we will not be publishing any further anthologies for the rest of 2017. We’ve had a good start for a publishing company that has only started up, and now is the time to start planning properly for next year.

So watch our posts for the next few days. A new site, the opening of all anthologies, and also a new writer that will be signing up with us for a new trilogy he is writing…. very exciting times ahead.

Kind regards

Shaun M Jooste

Last Chance to Be Named a Sponsor in our Upcoming World Record Anthology

We are reaching 30 September 2017 very very quickly and the pressure is on. Exclusive Books is busy ordering their paperback copies for all their branches around South Africa in preparation for the launch event whereby we hope to sell over 1000 copies. Once we reach this lofty goal, Guinness will then verify all our evidence for our World Record attempt at the Most Authors Contributing Towards an Anthology of Short Stories.

And this is your last chance to be named an official sponsor in the World record anthology itself. Tomorrow the volume is being sent to all our distributors for final approval in order to activate preorders on their systems, and we will not be able to edit it further after that.

So if you want to still have your name down in the record book, head on over to our sponsor pre-order page and place your order today. You will still be able to pre-order until 30 September 2017, but no direct pre-orders received after today will be placed in the Volume.

New Project (2)

Submissions for the Guinness World Record are officially closed

And that’s it! The deadline for submissions into the Guinness World Record is officially passed. We have already reached our 100 story goal as indicated yesterday, and all the extra stories are being kept in reserve in case we can still fit them into the one Volume, as required by Guinness World Records.

Now…our hard really begins. We have been editing and confirming that each story is fit for the anthology and meets requirements up to now. With establishing CEP as a registered company and creating new divisions, Celenic Game Studios establishing a new game development partnership with Salty Goal Productions, establishing AIR Entertainment as our own gaming news outlet, and yesterday being invited to join a community of game developers so that Celenic Game Studios can offer involvement, assistance and advice…. It has been a busy month.

And it is about to get busier. We would have liked to compile the Volume as we received the stories, but this became a momentous task and distracted us from the submissions being received. Now that submissions are finally over, we have two weeks to compile all the stories into their respective genres. As sponsors contribute to pre-orders and donations, we will be updating the novel with the list of sponsors in the Acknowledgments section of the volume. Remember, you have until 20 September 2017 to pre-order if you want to be listed as an official sponsor in the volume and in the video credits of the actual launch event. You will still be able to preorder after that, but we have to have the final complete volume submitted by then so that it can be ready for the launch on 30 September 2017.

So please pre-order while you can! Our site is the only way to pre-order in a fashion whereby you can be listed as a sponsor. Amazon or other online platform pre-orders do not share buyer information with us, so we cannot take any information from those pre-orders to place in the anthology. Emailing us to say you have preordered from Amazon will also not work… You can only pre-order from us directly to be acknowledged as a sponsor for the record.

For your convenience, we are once again placing the pre-order links here. Thank you so much for the support we have already received and all the interviews that are currently streaming in. We really appreciate it!
