Our Guinness World Record Event Was a Great Success

On Saturday 17 March 2018 we held our official Guinness World Record Anthology launch at the Parow Library in Parow, Cape Town, South Africa. It was a spectacular event, with the main focus on promoting Library Week, introducing our local writers, and talking about our company Celenic Earth Publications. If you missed it, no worries: we will be making a video of it shortly and broadcasting it on our YouTube channel. The photography and filming were done by our Director of Photography, Brent Peters.

In the meantime, here’s rundown of what you missed:

The event started off with visitors to the public library. Library manager Jacinta Avontuur was introduced and thanks for the opportunity to hold the event at the Library. She was provided an opportunity to explain what Library Week was all about as well as the program for the week ahead. Celenic Earth Publications was thanked for starting Library Week off with the Guinness World Record event.

Next we introduced an up and coming music band, LittyFam. Artist Jason Paulse was at the event and was provided with an opportunity to speak about the band’s singles and future album. Celenic Music Studios, the music division of Celenic Earth Publications, will be providing full support for the band.

As a final part of the welcome, local writers that took part in the anthology were introduced. We were fortunate to have the following writers at the event:

  • Chantelle Salt
  • Brigette Ronne
  • Alistair Davidse
  • Caroline Reid
  • Theolin Tembo

The event was officially witnessed on behalf of Guinness World Records by Jacinta Avontuur and Chloe Rushovich.

We took the opportunity to introduce Celenic Earth Publications as a publishing company based in South Africa that accepts writers from all around the world, and makes their work available internationally.

For those who do not know, we briefly summarised the main three streams of publishers as follows:

  • Traditional Publishers: those who have a set niche of writers they accept from agents, whom they pay to write certain types of novels and who takes sales royalties until they have obtained their return on investment.
  • Vanity Publishers: those that writers pay to have their books published, but who take no part in sales of marketing of the books.
  • Self Publishers: usually writers who publish their own work, or publishers who assist writers in publishing their own work.

Celenic Earth Publications was proud to announce that it fell in none of the above categories. CEP accepts writers from around the work with no upfront fees, like most publishers do these days with new and unknown writers. The main focus is anthologies where new writers can test their writing in the market.

CEP assists by going through the entire publishing process, and only takes payment from a percentage of sales. In this way, we feel that we have earned the payment and writers don’t have to break their bank just to reach their dreams of being published.

Kenny Bergsma, the author of the popular Flats Justice that was published last year by CEP, was introduced at the event. The details of his novel were shared, as well as his two upcoming books already in the publishing process, Fresh Observations and Questions.

CEP has many programs and activities coming up for the rest of the year, including the start of a craft market for writers, the opening of a bookstore to rival the likes of Exclusive Books and CNA (to name a few) where new writers are introduced, as well the establishment of a non-profit organisation where CEP will go into poor communities to find that writing talent hidden by poverty and assist them in writing and publishing their work. It is hoped that through charitable grants that CEP can open Celenic Writing  Centres throughout the City of Cape Town where potential writers can come in and learn how to write.

It was finally time for the main event. The tables were laden with copies of CEA Greatest Anthology Written, our anthology of 108 short stories spanning across various genres. The history of the application to break the current record of 50 writers published in 1 volume was explained as well as the momentous journey it took to get here. Writers from all over the work too part in the anthology, so it was a global event as well as a global anthology.

Achieving this World Record would be a cornerstone for CEP in the publishing industry. Many other anthologies are also published by CEP, but each one is based on a specific genre. CEA Greatest Anthology Written takes all the genres in one volume, creating a special treat for everyone and their unique reading tastes.

A word went out to thank the sponsors of the event that made it all possible, with the largest thanks being offered to Doctor, physician and investor Scelo Mthiyane, who provided the funding for the printing of the books.

The Order Page was provided to all that attended if they wanted to order online instead of physically at the event, since many arrived at the Library to return books or simply to see what the event was about.

Conclusion

After the event, 3 copies of the anthology were handed over to the Parow Library as a donation, so if you are a member of the Library feel free to head on over to rent the book for a few weeks and obtain your taste of literary bliss. We are in process of getting our books in all South African libraries and possibly some libraries overseas too.

We are busy planning for sales launches where you can buy them in the malls. More on this in time to come.

I want to thank everyone that was able to attend and to all those that showed us some great support. It was fantastic meeting you all and introducing our company to you.

South Africans Can Order the Guinness World Record Anthology of 108 Stories Directly From Us

We’ve recently discovered that, despite our best marketing, South Africans are still not aware that CEA Greatest Anthology Written, our world record anthology of 108 short stories, is available here in South Africa. Celenic Earth Publications is a publishing company based in Cape Town, with distributors available to send the volume anywhere in South Africa.

Many have been wanting to buy our volume, but thought it was only available internationally on Amazon and other global leading outlets. We’re happy to remind you that this is not true. So if you’d to order locally, just head on over to our order page for CEA Greatest Anthology Written, go down to the Paypal or Payfast options (payfast is faster for us to process), and click on the buttons to order your copy.

We sell our A4 550-page volume directly at R300 per copy, which is a major discount from the R500 the book stores will be selling it for because of their markup prices. Pretoria FM Radio Interviews Us On Our Guinness World Record Anthology Attempt

On Friday 20 October 2017, we were interviewed by Pretoria FM about our Guinness World Record Anthology attempt. We were fortunate enough to obtain a recording of that interview and stream it on our site.

The interviewer asked questions in our Afrikaans language, while I responded in English for all of our followers and readers overseas who do not understand Afrikaans. Also, just beneath the stream below, we have transcribed the questions into English, for you to follow more easily.

Questions in English (rough translation):

Pretoria FM: Welcome to the afternoon broadcast, and a writer and publisher from Cape Town has accepted the challenge to beat a Guinness World Record for the Most Authors Contributing towards an Anthology of Short Stories. Shaun M Jooste is in the last stretch to beat this record and we have the wonderful opportunity to speak to him straight from the Cape.

Good afternoon, Shaun. It’s lovely chatting to you.

Shaun:  Good day there. How are you doing?

Pretoria FM: Fantastic thank you. I think it’s going a bit better with you as you can see Table Mountain.

Question 1: How is it going with this record attempt of yours?

Shaun: A bit stressful but going well thank you.

Question 2: It’s probably a very complicated process?

Question 3: So you had to get as many writers as possible to contribute to this anthology of short stories. How many did you need?

Question 4: And how many have you sold?

Question 5: Fantastic. So can our listeners also obtain copies and help to realise this record attempt?

Question 6: How does one go about doing that?

Question 7: And what type of stories is contained within the book?

Question 8: Oh that’s awesome. It’s actually a very good christmas present for someone who really enjoys reading.

Question 9: So one can buy it online at celenicearthpublications.wordpress.com, is that right?

Question 10: And then once you order it, is it delivered or how does it work?

Question 11: Shaun, as soon as you have broken this record please let us know. We would definitely love to chat to you again

Keep us updated. Thank you Shaun. Goodbye.

That was Shaun M Jooste, he is the owner of Celenic Earth Publications. You can buy this book of 108 writers online right now, celenicearthpublications.wordpress.com . Wow! We hope they will break this record; they must sell 1000 copies so that the record can be verified.

And that was our awesome radio interview. And in case you missed it, you can click on the book image below to read more about our anthology, or click on the yellow button to order a copy now and help us break the world record.

Exclusive Books Launch Cancelled; Online Launch Proceeding

In a strange turn of events, Exclusive Books have advised us that due to further considerations, the planned book launch event for 14 October 2017 at the Canal Walk Shopping Centre has been cancelled. We have attempted to find out what these considerations consisted of, but are not receiving any further information.

Based on the discussions we’ve had with the branch earlier this week, we can only surmise that this has to do with the fact that Exclusive Books do not feel comfortable publishing an anthology of short stories by relatively unknown writers. Translated = Exclusive Books only supports projects that promises them profits for their commercial business, and their business has nothing to do with the writers themselves.

Fair enough. They are a business after all. I just wish they could have made this decision sooner rather than later and now disappointing everyone that was looking forward to the launch. Be that as it may, we are proceeding with the online launch on 14 October 2017 with our official distributors. We will also be pursuing other physical book launches with some of our other contacts in our network and will keep you informed.

Keep an eye out on the 14th for releases online all over the world!

Investment Opportunity – Guinness World Record Anthology

20% RETURN ON INVESTMENT!!

received_1414716401911237.jpeg

14 October 2017 is almost upon us! Our Guinness World Record Anthology attempt, CEA Greatest Anthology Written, will be launched at Exclusive Books, Canal Walk, at 11am. The shopping centre will be advertising the event in the days leading up to the launch.

This is now a great opportunity for investors that not only want to make their money grow within 1 day if we meet sales targets, but also to have their names or company listed on the actual advertisements themselves. The investment will go towards printing of the required number of books for the event, and the ROI will be made off the Volume’s selling price.

As this will be such a huge event, held at one of the province’s largest shopping centres within the popular Exclusive Books, and an attempt at a world record, we are sure the sales can be made, with already 120 preorders in hand.

Investors will have to contact us within 2-3 days with an offer to invest, as we will be printing the first load of books on Friday 6 October 2017. We can be emailed at shaunmjooste@celenicearth.com for further financial and event plan details.

Guinness World Record Anthology Official Cape Town Launch Event: 14 October 2017

After a successful meeting with our local Exclusive Books store at Canal Walk shopping centre, Cape Town, we can finally inform you that the official launch of our Guinness World Record Anthology, CEA Greatest Anthology Written, is set for 14 October 2017, 11am.

As the Exclusive Books chain operates as a franchise, we could not obtain an agreement for the Volume to launch throughout the country’s stores. However, we are currently investigating getting Western Cape branches involved to make the volume available throughout the City of Cape Town. I have been informed that potential buyers can ask other branches for the Volume, who will then request Celenic Earth Publications to provide them with stock if the demand is high enough.

The international launch will be also be on 14 October 2017 through our normal chain of distributors as indicated below:

Those who are able to make the launch event at Canal Walk and have pre-ordered will be able to collect their paperback copies at the event. It is to be noted that the copies that will be for sale at the event will cost more due to standard commercial markups costs, while we try and minimise the retail price as much as possible. You can still pre-order copies through our site as below.

We hope to see as many of you at the event as possible. Expect to see television, newspaper and radio announcements for the event and advertising in the shopping centre itself in the weeks leading up to the event.
